This painting derives from a small felt tip pen drawing of a friend's garden around Christmas time 2021. It is focused on a reduced palate inspired by the painting of Alfred Wallis, who was based in Cornwall in St. Ives and painted marine landscapes in a naive fashion, but these simple paintings held huge sophistication in colour and space.
